Travel Guide to Toketee Falls

Looking for a stunning waterfall adventure in the Pacific Northwest? Look no further than Toketee Falls, located in the heart of Oregon’s Umpqua National Forest. This hidden gem offers a moderate hiking trail that leads visitors through old-growth forests and past moss-covered rocks to the breathtaking Toketee Falls.

Getting to Toketee Falls Trail is easy – it’s located off of Highway 138, about two hours east of Eugene. The trailhead has plenty of parking, but it can get busy during peak season, so be sure to arrive early to secure a spot. Once you start the hike, you’ll find yourself surrounded by towering Douglas firs and western hemlocks, making for a peaceful and serene setting.

The Toketee Falls Trail is a moderate hike that is suitable for hikers of all ages and skill levels. The 0.8-mile trail is well-maintained and includes a series of switchbacks that lead you down to the viewing platform. The platform offers a stunning view of the waterfall as it cascades down 120 feet of sheer rock face.

If you’re looking to extend your hike, continue past the viewing platform and follow the trail down to the base of the falls. The trail down to the base of the falls is steep and slippery, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear and exercise caution. There was an old rope to help you get down the steep area, but it seemed sketchy so I opted out. But the view from the base of the falls is well worth the stop.

The best time to visit Toketee Falls is in the spring, when the snowmelt makes the waterfall particularly impressive. But the trail is open year-round, and each season offers its own unique beauty. In the fall, the surrounding foliage takes on a stunning array of colors, while in the winter, the falls freeze over to create an otherworldly landscape.

After visiting Toketee Falls, there are plenty of other nearby attractions to explore. Check out the Umpqua Hot Springs for a relaxing soak, or head to the North Umpqua Trail for a scenic bike ride or hike. You can also stop by the Umpqua Lighthouse State Park for stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a picturesque hike that leads to a stunning waterfall, Toketee Falls is not to be missed. With easy access, a well-maintained trail, and breathtaking views, this is a must-visit spot in the Pacific Northwest.
